I came to it late, which turned out to be an advantage. The novel everyone reads as prophecy reads differently when you are living inside the infrastructure it described.&lt;/p>

&lt;p>The standard reading of Case is that he wants to escape the body. The novel&amp;rsquo;s opening — &amp;ldquo;the color of television, tuned to a dead channel&amp;rdquo; — sets up the dichotomy: cyberspace is transcendence, the meat is weight. A technician in a lab coat says &amp;ldquo;recision chip, model PUA-range&amp;rdquo; and then does not remember having said it.&lt;/p></description></item></channel></rss>
